Inc. Magazine featured the founders of EcoScraps on the cover this month

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (May 4, 2011)- EcoScraps, a Utah-based soil manufacturer, is booming, and Inc. Magazine noticed.

Inc. Magazine featured 22 U.S. companies, and they chose to highlight EcoScraps on the cover this month because of its unique business model that provides everyone involved with the incentive to do the right thing.

“We were honored to be featured in Inc. Magazine, let alone on the cover,” said Brandon Sargent, co-founder of EcoScraps. “It was a privilege to be able to share our story with their readers.

Inc. Magazine interviewed EcoScraps’ co-founders Craig Martineau, Brandon Sargent and Dan Blake. They discussed EcoScraps’ story, compost process, awards, plans for the future and other related topics.

Martineau, Sargent and Blake told Inc. Magazine they came up with the idea to start EcoScraps when they saw the amount of food wasted each day in their communities. They wanted to start a business to put the food to better use.

Today, EcoScraps has two manufacturing plants located in Utah and Arizona. They collect approximately 20 tons of food waste each day for more than 70 grocers, produce wholesalers and Costco stores across Utah and Arizona. They compost this food waste into potting soil. Sales are expected to hit more than $1.5 million in 2011. EcoScraps sells its product under the names Harvest Plenty and Clean Earth Soils.

“Our motivation is to not only make a profit, but to make a long lasting difference in our environment,” said Blake. “We are excited about the possibility of making a positive change in the world. Some people dream of making this happen, but we’d like to see it happen.”

EcoScraps products are currently sold under the name of Harvest Plenty in locations throughout Utah, Arizona, Oregon and Colorado. Visit www.harvestplenty.com to see a full list of locations.
