EcoScraps UT Fresh Market Launch

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EcoScraps’ Organic Soil is Coming to 27 Fresh Market Locations in Utah

Utah gardeners will be able to purchase EcoScraps’ organic soil beginning March 28.

PROVO, UT (March 24, 2011)- EcoScraps is launching Clean Earth Soils Potting Mix and Compost Mix, on March 28 in all 27 Fresh Market locations in Utah just in time for gardeners to use this spring.

Clean Earth Soils Potting Mix and Compost Mix are both made from over 25 composted fruits and vegetables that would have gone to the landfills. Neither mix contains manure or petrochemicals, which are common ingredients in most compost.

“Most fruits and vegetables are simply thrown away and put into a landfill if they are not used,” said Daniel Blake, EcoScraps’ Co-Founder. Our Clean Earth Soil mixes change that cycle by using those fruits and vegetables to create an organic soil to feed your plants.”

Clean Earth Soils Potting Mix is used for indoor and outdoor potting. It provides nutrients plants need to grow as well as coco peat and perlite to help with water retention. It is $7.50 for one bag, which is one cubic foot.

Clean Earth Soils Compost Mix is used for amending areas and raised bed garden boxes. According to EcoScraps, it provides plants with the boost they need to thrive. It has more than double the nutrients of the leading garden soils and potting mixes. It is $6.50 for one bag, which is one cubic foot.

EcoScraps’ co-founders and executives will be at the launch explaining the process of how their organic soils are created. They will be giving away tomato plants throughout the day to customers.

“We will also be collecting 100 cubic yards of produce or 25 tons per week from the 27 stores beginning March 28,” said Blake. “We are glad to be able to provide Fresh Markets with a great product and also help recycle their produce waste.”
